What arrives
One full meal, hot, in a box that opens easily. Grains, pulses and vegetables — the three things a body keeps needing, cooked so they are simple to eat and simple to digest.
-
Grains
Rice, barley, oats or millet, depending on the day. Cooked soft, never dry.
-
Pulses and beans
Lentils, chickpeas, mung. Slow-cooked, so they sit lightly rather than heavily.
-
Vegetables
Whatever is in season and at its best that week. Cut small, cooked through.
-
Mild spice
Warm, not hot. Enough that the food tastes of something, never enough to burn.
This week
A different meal every day, so nothing becomes tiring. The menu follows the season, so it changes through the year.
-
Monday
Barley and root vegetables
Slow-cooked barley with carrot, swede and parsley. A spoonful of yoghurt on the side.
-
Tuesday
Yellow lentils and rice
Soft lentils with cumin and a little ginger, over warm rice. Greens on the side.
-
Wednesday
Chickpeas and spinach
Chickpeas cooked until tender, spinach, tomato, mild spice. With flatbread.
-
Thursday
Vegetable and oat pottage
A thick, gentle bowl — oats, leek, celery, white beans. Easy on a tired stomach.
-
Friday
Mung beans and millet
Light and warming, with green beans and a little lemon. The easiest meal of the week to digest.
-
Saturday
Rice, beans and squash
Roasted squash, kidney beans, herbs. A little richer, for the weekend.
-
Sunday
Sunday pot
Whatever was best at the market that week, cooked long and slow. Always something sweet with it.
How it works
-
Tell us once
Which days you would like, and anything you cannot eat. It takes about five minutes, and you never have to do it again — we keep it on file.
-
We cook that morning
Everything is made the same day it is delivered. Nothing is frozen and nothing is reheated from yesterday.
-
It arrives hot
Between 11.30 and 1.00, to your door. The same driver each week, so you know who is knocking.
Questions
What if I cannot eat something?
Tell us once and we keep the note permanently. We cook without nuts as standard, and we can leave out salt, dairy, wheat or anything else you need us to.
Can I change my days?
Yes, any time. Tell us before 4pm the day before and we will change or pause it. There is no charge for stopping and no notice period.
How do I pay?
Monthly, by direct debit or by cheque, whichever you prefer. Nothing is taken until after the first week, so you can try it first.
What if I am not in?
Tell us where to leave it, or give us a neighbour's name. If nobody answers and we have not been told what to do, the driver will message you before leaving.
Is it enough food?
It is a full midday meal for one person. If you would rather have a larger portion, say so when you order — it costs a little more, and we note it for every delivery.
Start whenever you like
Tell us where to bring it
Three questions and you are done. We read every one of these ourselves — nothing here is answered by a machine.
If you get stuck
There is always a person at the end of this. You will not be passed to a menu, and you will not be asked for a password.
